    Brown Enters No Contest Plea In 2010 Fatal Fireworks Crash

    fataltconeeditMelissa Brigette Brown, the 23-year-old Canyon Country woman accused of driving into a crowd gathered to watch a fireworks show on July 4, 2010, which resulted in the death of Newhall mother Matilda Garnica, pleaded no contest today.

     

     

    Deputy District Attorney Richard Quinones said Brown pleaded to one count of vehicular manslaughter. An infraction for failure to stop at a red light was dismissed.

    The motorcyclists killed while enroute to the annual Love Ride in Castaic have been identified by coroner officials.

    According to Capt. Ed Winter, the male victim, who was driving the motorcycle, was Romarino Zeri, 51, of Los Angeles. His female rider was Julie Anne Cameron, 38, of Venice.

    Crockett To Serve Time In Prison If Convicted

    CaseyCrockettmug25-year-old Casey Crockett was arraigned on October 20 at the San Fernando Superior Court and charged with one count of lewd act upon a child. Two allegations on the charge state the felony warrants sex offender registration and time served in state prison.

    According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office the second stipulation was necessary to ensure Crockett, if convicted, would serve time in state prison and not in the county jail.
