City Wants To Know What You're Thinking, Survey Deadline Extended To Nov. 30

USETHISCITYSEALThe City of Santa Clarita is encouraging residents to provide feedback on local community programs and services by completing a 13-question survey open to the public now through November 30.


The survey is available online at or at the Newhall Community Center, Valencia Library and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library.

California Company Recalls 80,000 Pounds Of Beef For Possible E. coli Contamination

Recall-SidebarManning Beef, LLC, a Pico Rivera, Calif. establishment, is voluntarily recalling approximately 80,000 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.


The following products are subject to recall:

Combo bins of BroPack Inc Beef Manufacturing Trimmings “65/35, 50/50 or 85/15" produced on Sept. 23, 2011.

Canyon Receiver Drew Wolitarsky Sets School Record Against Beverly Hills

khts_sportsThe Canyon football team stayed undefeated with a 56-6 win over Beverly Hills. Receiver Drew Wolitarsky caught two touchdown passes, giving him 26 for his high school career, a Canyon record.

Running back Max Archuleta rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Jonathan Jerozal threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns for the 4-0 Cowboys.

Missing Corrections Officer Found Dead In Aqueduct: No Foul Play Suspected

An intense search in Leona Valley came to an end Friday when sheriff deputies found the body of a 51-year-old state prison guard in the California Aqueduct in Pearblossom, 30 miles to the south.


Although county coroner’s investigators have yet to determine the cause of death, sheriff officials believe it was an accidental drowning.

Two unrelated collisions in precisely the same remote mountain location northeast of Castaic have left one man dead and another man injured but alive after a week in the wilderness.
