UPDATED: Man With An Ax Sought By Deputies In Castaic

khts_crimeUPDATED 2:45 p.m. Sheriff's official report that the ax-wielding suspect is still at large, despite attempts to locate him.

Deputies in Castaic are on the hunt for a man with an ax who swung it at a woman during a domestic dispute this morning.

Two children were in the house when the assault occurred in the 32700 block of Ridge Top Lane, but they ran to the safety of a neighbor’s home.

Deputies Looking For Red Dodge Dakota For Newhall Hit-and-Run

khts_crimeSanta Clarita Sheriff's Deputies are looking for the driver of a red, Dodge Dakota in connection with a morning hit-and-run at 23792 Newhall Avenue near the Starbucks.

Original scanner broadcasts at 9:45 this morning indicated a woman had been hit by the vehicle. Deputies could not confirm the condition of the woman. A partial license plate on the 2-door truck was obtained but deputies were not in active pursuit. The driver is possibly a white male.

Home Depot Preps For SCV Habitat for Heroes

On Saturday, November 5, SCV Habitat for Heroes will be conducting their Brush With Kindness Program at the Saugus home of local veteran Joshua Murphy and his wife Windie. A Brush With Kindness is a campaign to rehabilitate and modify existing homes for disabled or financially struggling veterans.

Church Proposes Park Building/Parking Lot Sharing Project

The Santa Clarita Parks Commission will hear a proposal Thursday to modify approved plans for a future park at the southeast corner of Valencia’s Bridgeport Marketplace.


Under the new plan, rather than a 5-acre park, the city would design a 2.6-acre public park and the remaining 2.4 acres would be paved as a parking lot for approximately 100 vehicles.

Carpet Repair Set For Canyon Country Library

CClibraryBeginning in late November, the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library will operate on a limited basis for approximately seven weeks to repair the carpet.  This work is covered by warranty and will be managed by the County of Los Angeles, Internal Services Department.

The required work will be done in two phases to accommodate a temporary storefront operation in the Community Room of the Canyon Country Library.
