    COC Observes National Domestic Awareness Month

    COClogoIn observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness month, College of the Canyons will host its annual Domestic Violence Awareness event and donation drive as the first in a month-long series of events focused on domestic violence and body image issues.

    The college’s fourth annual Domestic Violence Awareness event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the COC Honor Grove, located on the college’s Valencia campus.

    Northlake's Timothy Garman Named County Teacher Of The Year

    khts_schools_chalkboardOne of the best teachers in Los Angeles County is one of our own.

    Timothy Garman, a fifth grade teacher at Northlake Hills Elementary School in Castaic, was named one of the “sweet 16” top teachers during ceremonies held Friday morning in Universal City. He is now in a group from Los Angeles County in the running for California Teacher of the Year.

    “It’s quite an honor, I’m very, very overwhelmed,” he said.

    George Runner Calls Amazon Law Good and Bad

    The Good:

    “Clearly Amazon will be committing to bring new jobs to into California by bringing in distribution centers and fulfillment centers and that’s a good thing. Which basically means they will then under the law, regardless have to collect the sales tax, because they will have clear presence here.”
