Saugus Football Team Rallies To Win Season Opener

khts_sportsThe Saugus football team won its season opener, 31-20, over Burroughs of Burbank at Canyon High School last night.

Saugus scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to rally for the win. Burroughs had a 13-10 lead after three quarters.

Saugus quarterback Jared Carbajal rushed for 181 yards and scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Next up for Saugus is Muir.

4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Santa Clarita

The earthquake that shook Santa Clarita this afternoon has been upgraded to a 4.3 magnitude by the U.S. Geological Service.

At 1:47, the valley trembled when the quake hit 4 miles east of Newhall.

Three notable aftershocks have been reported, a 2.3 magnitude at 2:40, a 2.0 magnitude at 1:50 p.m. and another of magnitude 2.6 at 1:53 p.m.

Valencia aerospace contractor Vivace Spacetron said goodbye to its new baby Thursday as it packed up and shipped off its custom-designed spacecraft transporter to Virginia.


“This is something very special to us,” said company President Rick Montoya. “Everybody put in so much work, and the product came out beautiful. We hope that our customer’s going to love it when they receive it.”

Saugus Football Team Opens Against Burroughs Of Burbank Tonight

khts_sportsThe high school football season begins tonight with Saugus against Burroughs from Burbank at College of the Canyons.

Saugus is coming off a 5-6 season in 2010. The Centurions lost to Oaks Christian in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Northern Division playoffs.

Burroughs was 7-5 and co-champions of the Pacific League last season.

Saugus coach Jason Bornn said he expects a physical game against Burroughs.
