UPDATE: 80% Containment On Wagon Wheel Fire

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is reporting 80 percent containment on the Wagon Wheel fire. According to Inspector Quvondo Johnson there are no active flames but 300 personnel are still on scene for mop up duties, including four strike teams with hot shot crews.

West Ranch Running Back Jeff Coprich Sets School Record Against Nordhoff

khts_sportsWest Ranch running back Jeff Coprich set a school record with 213 rushing yards in his team’s 53-21 win over Nordhoff on the opening weekend of high school football.

Coprich scored four touchdowns, including one on a 65-yard interception return. The Wildcats defense forced five turnovers and the offense racked up 531 total yards.

More rabid bats have been found this year in the Santa Clarita Valley than in any other region of Los Angeles County, according to data from the county health department.

As of Friday, 23 rabid animals – all bats – had been identified since Jan. 1 throughout Los Angeles County. Nine of them were found in the Santa Clarita Valley, and most of them in recent weeks.

Labor Day proved to be a flat day for the Dodgers as they lose to the Nationals Monday afternoon and increase their losing streak to two games.
