    Food Pantry To Benefit From Estate Sale

    scv-food-pantry-logoA five-family estate sale will be held Sunday at The Living Room Emporium in Canyon Country, with all proceeds benefiting the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry.

    Along with the sale, which is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the store will be collecting nonperishable food items to donate to the Food Pantry.

     

    DUI Checkpoint In SCV Tonight

    DUIcheckpointLASDA DUI Checkpoint will be conducted tonight from 6 p.m. until 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Santa Clarita Valley.

    The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the D.U.I. laws of the State of California.

    The checkpoint is an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunk drivers from our roadways. The location of the checkpoint will be based on D.U.I. related activity in that area.

    Canyon, Valencia Ranked In Top 10 Of CIF Southern Section Preseason Football Poll

    khts_sportsThe Canyon and Valencia football teams are ranked in the top 10 of the CIF Southern Section Northern Division preseason poll.

    Canyon comes in at No. 4. Valencia, the reigning Foothill League champs, is No. 5. Three teams from the Marmonte League took the top three spots in the poll.

    St. Bonaventure is No. 1, followed by Oaks Christian at No. 2 and Westlake at No. 3.

    A 14-foot high, cupola frame, comprised of four tons of steel beams, greeted the 50 or so souls who braved the heat for the “roof raising” at the site of the new Old Town Newhall library.

    Deputies Asking For Public's Help In Solving Castaic Vandalism Case

    khts_crimeDetectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station have few leads, but are hopeful someone in the community can provide information that can help put school vandals behind bars.

     

    On Thursday, August 18, deputies from the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station responded to the Castaic Middle School at 29800 Hillcrest Parkway to reports that the school had been vandalized.

    Heat Raises Fire Danger, Health Warning Reissued

    “This coming weekend there are thundershowers predicted, starting possibly tomorrow morning into evening, rolling into Saturday,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bill Niccum.
