BREAKING NEWS: 5th Power Outage Smaller

A fifth power outage has been reported by Southern California Edison, but is much smaller is scope. Seven homes on Barbacoa Drive in Saugus lost power at 6:11 p.m. Edison estimated having the power back up by 10:15.

Although many of the power outages have been described as heat related, Nancy Williams,Regiona Manager of Public Affairs for Southern California Edison, says every malfunctioning piece is sent back to the manufacturer to determine the actual cause of a part's failure.

Well, no matter how miserable it is outside we have to eat right? The only thing that appeals to me these days is anything cold, hence this recipe. I feel a bit strange even calling this a recipe because of its ridiculous simplicity, but here goes.

Bomb Squad Diffuses Bottle Bomb Found In Newhall

Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad destroyed a dry ice bomb that had been discovered Saturday afternoon in Newhall.

Deputies established a perimeter around the device and shot two rounds from a pellet gun into it at about 6:15 p.m.

Bar Patron Gets Handcuffs For Challenging Deputies

khts_crime_genericA bar patron at La Cocina on Plum Canyon and Bouquet Canyon Roads went to jail last night after scuffling with deputies who were called to the bar by management.



Greg Wright, 25, was reportedly under the influence and causing a disturbance at the restaurant.

Val Verde Stabbing Lands One In Hospital, One In Jail

khts_crimeOne man is in custody and one man is in the hospital after a fight at a party in Val Verde Friday night.

Lt. Joseph Efflandt of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said that Jesus Youguez Sanchez was at a gathering at a home in the 30000 block of Jusatmere Street in Val Verde when he got into a fight with another man and stabbed him in the abdomen.

A third party intervened and Sanchez sustained lacerations to the face and head.

Brush Fires Near Pyramid Lake Quickly Doused By Firefighters

khts_brushfireTwo small brush fires were reported along the southbound I-5 near Pyramid Lake this morning; fire crews are on the scene and have knockdown on both.


Fire officials said both fires – one close to Vista del Lago and the other at Smokey Bear Road – were confined to less than one acre.

Antonovich Works To Bar Special Legislation For Football Stadium
