    Canyon High Grad Greg Pursley Wins NASCAR West Series Race

    khts_sportsCanyon High graduate Greg Pursley has been on a roll in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. He continued that roll by winning the West Series race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night.

    He won the pole and led a race-high 164 laps en route to his fifth win of the West Series season. He leads the West Series standings after seven races. It was his eighth career West Series win.

    Home Tour League Looking For 2011 Homes

    hometourPlanning for the 2011 Holiday Home Tour is underway and the Home Tour League is seeking Santa Clarita Valley homes, 3,000 square feet or larger, for this year’s holiday tradition.

     

    For more than 30 years, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s Holiday Home Tour League has offered the community an opportunity to visit Santa Clarita Valley homes elaborately decorated for the holiday season. This year’s Home Tour will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2011.

    Anime Expo is a convention showcasing Japanese animation, called Anime, and Japanese culture. Anime conventions are held all over the country but Anime Expo is largest in North America.

    Eason Appointed Chief Medical Officer For Providence SoCal Region

    khts_healthLaurence “Lanny” Eason, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer for the Providence Southern California Region, which includes five medical centers in the South Bay and the San Fernando Valley. The appointment takes effect on Sunday.

    Dr. Eason, the current CMO for Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance, has served in several regional posts for Providence, a Catholic not-for-profit organization.

    New Musical 'The Giver' To Make West Coast Premiere At COC

    COClogoThe College of the Canyons theatre department will present a workshop production of the award-winning, young adult science fiction novel, “The Giver,” July 8 and 9, as part of this summer’s Festival of New American Musicals.

     

    The musical is being staged as part of the college’s Theatre 193: Summer Theatre Workshop course, and will feature a cast of 16 students, professional actors and community members, in what will be the musical’s West Coast premiere.

    Missing Canyon Country Man's Body Found In Las Vegas

    khts_breakingnewsThe body of Dusan Klein, a person of interest in his wife's murder, was found by hikers on the outskirts of Las Vegas.

    Using dental records, Klein was positively identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office. The cause of death has been ruled a suicide.

     

    Renata and Dusan Klein left their Wildwind Canyon Road home on June 12 with their cocker spaniel Cindy in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, prompting a search for the couple.

    Happy 4th of July all! We are having friends and family to our house for a poolside BBQ this year. I am going to serve ice cream with an assortment of toppings for dessert. One of my family’s favorite ice cream topping is strawberry syrup made from fresh strawberries. I hope you enjoy this easy to make syrup too!
