Bryan Herta Autosport Adds Driver For Toronto Indy Lights Race

khts_sportsBryan Herta Autosport is growing in the Firestone Indy Lights Series. The team owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta is adding a second driver to its lineup.

Bruno Andrade, a driver from Brazil, will make his Indy Lights Series debut this weekend in Toronto. He will be driving the No. 29 car for Bryan Herta Autosport in the Honda Indy Toronto race on Sunday.

July 5 2011: Dodgers Get Shutout By Mets 6-0

It was a night that the Dodgers will want to forget as they get shutout by the Mets Tuesday night and increase their losing streak to four games. The Dodgers had no problem getting on base but could not get the job done as they left 13 men on base during the game. While the Dodgers fell flat, the Met's batting was on fire as they scored 3 home runs in which two of them were hit by Mets Left Fielder Jason Bay. The final score was 6-0. Redistricting Changes Surf and Turf

photo7On the eve of Independence Day, the City of Santa Clarita viewed revised redistricting maps from the California Citizens Redistricting Commission that gave the city independence from Malibu -- at least in terms of the California State Senate District 17.

“Malibu did not want to be lumped with us either. There’s no community of interest there,” said Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean.

Forest Service Vehicle Turns Over On Highway, Fire Crew Members Injured

Forest_ServiceA U.S. Forestry vehicle went off the road on Mt. Emma Road near Palmdale Monday evening, overturning in the desert. Several fire crew members were injured in the incident.

Helping Hands International Foundation Fundraiser

We are our brother’s keeper.  After witnessing carnage in their East African country of Kenya in 2008, a registered nurse named Debra Akello, and a financial planner named Joy Burton, decided to “help somebody as they passed along, so their lives would have meaning." With that, Helping Hands International Foundation of Saugus (HHIF) was born. They are a non profit organization, working at the grass roots level with the underprivileged in under served areas around the globe, mainly focusing on women and children.

Canyon High Grad Greg Pursley Wins NASCAR West Series Race

khts_sportsCanyon High graduate Greg Pursley has been on a roll in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. He continued that roll by winning the West Series race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night.

He won the pole and led a race-high 164 laps en route to his fifth win of the West Series season. He leads the West Series standings after seven races. It was his eighth career West Series win.
