UPDATED: Brush Fire In Acton

A brush fire in a rural neighborhood in Acton has been restricted to 100 acres and is 75 percent contained, according to LA County Fire Inspector Matt Levesque.

Firefighters have a line around the fire and air support is on the scene. No injuries were reported.

Basketball Camp Ends Abruptly After Campers Fall Ill

tmclogothmbThe Master’s College’s (TMC) summer basketball camp took an unfortunate turn when many of the boys involved became ill with severe flu-like symptoms.  Though the college is taking precautions, there is no evidence that there is cause for alarm.

Bizzelle Named Senior VP At Newhall Land

Bizzelle will join its management team as Senior Vice President, Community Development, with forward planning and entitlement responsibilities for Valencia and Newhall Ranch. Bizzelle replaces Steve Zimmer, who retired earlier this year. Zimmer will remain as a consultant to the Company.

Missing Canyon Country Man Considered Person Of Interest In Wife's Murder

Klein_Family_PicSheriff Lee Baca held a news conference at Sheriff’s Headquarters in Monterey Park today to repeat a plea for the public’s help in finding missing Canyon Country man Dusan Klein who is now considered a 'person of interest' in his wife's murder.

 

 

 

Dusan and Renata Klein left their Wildwind Canyon Road home on June 12, with their black and white cocker spaniel, Cindy, in a 1999 gold-colored Jeep Cherokee.

Sheriffs Will Conduct DUI Checkpoint

West Ranch Drops Two In A Row In Valley Invitational Baseball League

khts_sportsIt has not been a good week for West Ranch in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.

West Ranch lost its first two games of the summer league, including a 10-9 setback to Hart on Wednesday.

JD Krauskopf had three hits and drove in two runs for West Ranch. Hart won only its second game in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.

In other games, Valencia beat Woodland Hills West, 4-3, and Golden Valley lost to Simi Valley, 9-0.

UPDATED TRAFFIC: Water Main Break Closes McBean Parkway At Decoro Drive

McBean Parkway near Decoro Drive in Saugus is blocked due to a broken water main beneath the street at that location and there is no quick fix to the problem.

City crews are advising that the closure may be in place until 6 a.m. Thursday morning - or longer - because the entire intersection has to be rebuilt.

State Tries To Balance Budget With Elimination Of Local Funding
