UPDATED: Newhall Man Drowns In Apartment Pool

A 31-year old man drowned in his apartment complex pool Sunday evening while swimming with his daughter.

Lt. Tom Bryski said that deputies responded to the complex in the 25000 block of Walnut Street around 7:45 p.m.

 

UPDATED: Dead Man Found Outside Sand Canyon Restaurant

The Coroner her identified the dead man found outside Coco's Restaurant on Sand Canyon Road Sunday afternoon as 48-year-old Jerry DeWayne Sherill.

 

 

 

According to Coroner spokesman Craig Harvey, Sherill was a transient.

Sales Tax To Drop Back One Percent On Friday

georgerunnerBoard of Equalization Member Senator George Runner today reminded California consumers and retailers that California’s 1% sales tax surcharge is set to vanish July 1.

 

“This is great news for overtaxed California consumers and retailers who bear the sixth highest overall tax burden in the nation,” said Runner. “In fact, all Californians have good reason to celebrate. A lower sales tax will help our state’s economy and help job creation.”

Santa Clarita's Allyson Felix Wins 400 At National Meet

khts_sportsSanta Clarita’s Allyson Felix won the 400 at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships meet in Eugene, Ore.

She is the reigning world champion in the 200 and is eligible to race in both events at the world championships later this summer.

She won the 400 in 50.40 seconds, but she is undecided if she will compete in both events at the world meet in South Korea in August.
