Pardee Announces Fair Oaks Ranch Project Meets Federal Green Standards

khts_businessnews3Pardee Homes announced Friday that their new LivingSmart home project in Fair Oaks Ranch has been certified as the first in the state to meet national green building standards.

Pardee officials gathered with representatives of the National Association of Home Builders Research Center, as well as state and local government officials for the announcement.

Saugus Softball Team Stays On Top Of Foothill League Standings

khts_sportsThe Saugus softball team is the team to beat in the Foothill League, but no team has done it in a while.

Saugus scored four runs in the fourth inning en route to an 8-1 win over Canyon. The Centurions lead the Foothill League standings by a game over West Ranch and Valencia with two games left to play.

Jenna Kelly hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Erika Escedy led off the inning with a solo shot to centerfield.

Controlled Burn Thursday Morning In Val Verde

khts_fireenginefrontSmoke may be seen in the area of Chico Canyon of Val Verde, as the Los Angeles County Fire Department is conducting a controlled burn in the area.



The department regularly conducts training exercises during the spring to brush up on their wildfire response. Training was previously announced for earlier this week, with concentrated training scheduled to begin May 11 and continue through the month of June.

Mobile Home Destroyed By Fire In Saugus

khts_fireengine5A residence was destroyed by fire late Wednesday night in the Lily of the Valley Mobile Home Park on Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus.

At about 11:30 p.m., a fire began inside the mobile home in space 326. Within minutes, the entire home was fully engulfed in flames. The occupant of the home was able to escape before being overcome by smoke.

Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the surrounding homes while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
