Golden Valley Baseball Team Wins Coachella Valley Tournament

khts_sportsThe Golden Valley baseball team won the Coachella Valley tournament, beating Brawley, 7-4, in extra innings in the championship game.

Billy Frederick hit a three-run home run in the 10th inning to give Golden Valley the win and the tournament title.

Golden Valley pitcher Scott Barlow earned tournament MVP. He pitched three scoreless innings against Brawley and earned the win. Josh Smith picked up his first save.

Devol, who lives in Canyon Country, is one of hundreds of crafters across the U.S. and Canada who belong to the group “Heartmade Blessings” that makes afghans for families of fallen soldiers.

She’s made dozens of squares, as the demand for them doesn’t seem to be slowing.

April 6, 2011 Kings Beat Coyotes 3-2 To Clinch Playoff Spot

Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings welcomed the Phoenix Coyotes to the Staples Center. Jarret Stoll put the Kings on the board early in the first period making it 1 to 0. Phoenix answered back with two goals making it 2 to 1. In the second, Kings Left-Wing Kyle Clifford scored to tie the game 2-2. The game remained tied at the end of the third period to force sudden death in overtime and then onto a shootout. The Kings knocked in 2 goals in the shootout and secured a 3-1 victory and a spot in the playoffs. The Kings are in fourth place and three points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks

Those are just a few of the consequences of a government shutdown, according to senior administration officials, who detailed federal contingency plans for the first time on Wednesday.

Taste Of The Town Rolls Out Eclectic Platter

Taste of the Town will return for its 23rd year on Sunday, May 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  

Mann Biomedical Park in Valencia will host the outdoor event that features more than 40 restaurants, wine and ale purveyors, caterers and dessert specialists, including BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Kupcake Kitchen, Marston’s Restaurant, The Tea Gardens, Wolf Creek Brewing Co, Schreiner’s Fine Sausages and Wokcano.  

City Accepting First Pitch And National Anthem Entries For SCV Dodger Day

dodgerslogoThe City of Santa Clarita and the Dodger Day Committee are accepting first-pitch nominees and National Anthem auditions for the 34th Annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day. The winners will have the opportunity to showcase their singing or pitching talents at the Saturday, May 14 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Auditions must be received at City Hall by Friday, April 15 at 5:00 p.m.
