Artists Reception To Kick Off 16th Annual COC Student Exhibition

COClogoAn artists’ reception tonight will celebrate the opening of the 16th annual Student Exhibition at College of the Canyons Art Gallery.

The exhibition, which featuers a wide array of student work spanning the traditional visual arts categories, will serve as the semester’s culminating event for many COC art students.

Osteoporosis is a disease of the skeletal system characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue. It leads to an increased risk of bone fractures typically in the wrist, hip, and spine.

Hart Softball Team Wins Two Games In Thousand Oaks Tournament

khts_sportsThe Hart softball team won a couple games big time in the Thousand Oaks Tournament over the weekend.

Hart beat Rio Mesa, 12-2 in six innings in the first game, and Chaminade, 18-2, in the second game. Tracy Chandless collected six hits in the two games. She was 4-for-5 with a home run and drove in four runs against Chaminade.

Sierra Quala was 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs against Rio Mesa. She collected another two hits against Chaminade.

Increased Security At Dodgers Stadium

In the wake of the Bryan Snow incident, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Police Department have been making efforts to ensure that Dodgers fans have a sense of security while at the Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers Chairman Frank Mccourt, Los Angeles Police chief Charlie Beck and security consultant William Bratton addressed their new security plan at a news conference on April 14.  

April 18 2011: Dodgers Beat Braves 4-2

 

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 4-2. Good hitting in the early innings and great pithcing by Ted Lilly helped secure a 4-run lead throughout the game.The Dodgers scored three runs in the first inning with a 2-run single by Matt Kemp, and a sacrifice fly by James Loney. Rookie Jerry Sands started his career in the Major Leagues 2-4 with a double, and a sacrifice fly the scored Juan Uribe. Jonathan Broxton came in for the save, gave up two runs, but held off the Braves for the win.

Boston Scientific Recognized By Assembly

onuscheckBoston Scientific was recognized for its revolutionary advances in medical technology by Assemblyman Cameron Smyth this afternoon. The assemblyman also commended the company, which employs 700 people, for its commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations in our community.
