Old School Concert To Benefit Track And Field Programs

COClogoAt 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, this year’s Percy Knox Benefit Concert at College of the Canyons’ Cougar Stadium will feature a vibrant mix of performers. The concert is part of the annual Percy Knox Invitational, one of California’s most prestigious track and field competitions.

City To Promote Green-Friendly At Home And Garden Show

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThis year, the City of Santa Clarita brings a different shade of green to the KHTS AM 1220 Home and Garden Show with the first-ever “green-friendly” booth. The event returns to the Valencia Hyatt on Saturday, March 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday March 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The Master's College Baseball Teams Beats No. 3 Cal Baptist

khts_sportsThe Master’s College baseball team beat Cal Baptist, 7-5, behind a three RBI day from Bryan Lucas. The Master’s College scored four runs in the first inning and three more in the sixth. Lucas delivered the big blow in the sixth inning with a two-run double.

He was 2-for-4 and Spencer Downs walked twice and scored two runs.

Cal Baptist, the third-ranked team in the NAIA, hit two home runs. Zach Esquerra hit his 14th home run of the season.

SCV Outdoor Report: Waterlogged

So just how much rain did we get on Sunday?  Some reports say over seven inches?  But my watering can is eight inches tall and on Monday morning it was full to the brim.  Several of my potted plants were waterlogged - I had to bail them out.  As I bailed, I started thinking - how much water can dirt hold, anyway?

March 24 2011: Kings Beat Sharks 4-3!

With 3 minutes 32 seconds left in the game the Sharks tied the game at two apiece. Then, Dustin Brown scored with 1 minute and 42 seconds left to put the Kings in the lead by one. With 3.2 seconds left, San Jose scored to tie the game and force a 5 minute sudden death overtime period. After 5 scoreless overtime minutes,the two teams prepared for a dramatic, crowd pleasing shootout. Tied at one each after four rounds, Dustin Brown was the only one to score in the fifth round to win the game for the Kings.

Final score: Los Angeles Kings-4, San Jose Sharks-3

Only 14 B-17 bombers are capable of flight today, and the Liberty Belle B-17 will be available for rides at the Bob Hope Burbank Airport Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27.

Funeral Set For Local High School Student

The funeral for David Duncan, the 18-year-old Valencia High School student found dead in Frazier Park on Monday, will take place Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Valencia at 1 p.m.  

Duncan lived in Frazier Park with his family. The mountain community lies west of Interstate 5 just north of Gorman. Both of his parents are teachers at Valencia High School.
