Congress Agrees On $4 Billion Cuts, Puts Off Shutdown For Two Weeks

Money_stacksA stopgap measure that will cut $4 billion in federal spending and put a possible government shutdown off for two more weeks was approved by the U.S. Senate Wednesday morning with a vote of 91-9 and signed by the President Wednesday afternoon. The measure will keep the government funded (less the $4 billion) and in operation through March 18.

Cusumano To Receive Award From College Of The Canyons

This Saturday, the College of the Canyons will present Diana Cusumano with the 2011 Silver Spur Award at the historic California Club in Los Angeles.  

The award recognizes community volunteers and philanthropists on an annual basis.  

Stevenson Ranch Pavement Project Approved By Supervisors

mikeantonovichSupervisor Michael Antonovich has announced that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a $1.5 million project to resurface roadway pavement on Stevenson Ranch Parkway in Stevenson Ranch.


The work is expected to begin in June and be completed in November.

Update: Bieber Lock Sells For $40,000

Justin_Bieber_2Update: The lock of Justin Bieber's hair has sold on eBay for $40,668. The winning bidder?, an online casino and frequent purchaser of "interesting" items. The money will benefit the Gentle Barn in Canyon Country. In a staement, Golden Palace representatives said they plan on showcasing the prized Bieber hairs on the singer's upcoming concert dates in hopes of raising money for various charities.

Lacey Named As Chief Deputy District Attorney

jacquelyn_lacey_LADADistrict Attorney Steve Cooley today named Jacquelyn Lacey as Chief Deputy District Attorney, effective April 4.

Lacey is currently one of three Assistant District Attorneys, the No. 3 position in an office of almost 1,000 prosecutors.


She takes over the No. 2 post from current Chief Deputy John K. Spillane, who will assume the duties of Head Deputy District Attorney of the San Fernando Branch Office.
