Officer Involved In Shooting Hoax Faces Four Felony Charges

khts_crime_genericFormer L.A. Unified School police officer and Valencia resident, Jeffrey Stenroos, is facing charges stemming from a shooting hoax that created a shutdown of much of Woodland Hills and surrounding areas.

The case was handed over to L.A. County prosecutors earlier this month. Today, prosecutors filed four felony charges against the officer.

Canyon Meets No. 1 Rialto In Second Round Of CIF State Basketball Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Canyon girls basketball team won its first CIF State playoff game in school history. Now the Canyon girls get a chance to knock off the No. 1 seed.

Canyon plays Rialto, the top seed in the CIF Division II Southern California Regional, tonight in the second round of the playoffs.

Canyon is on the road again. Rialto is 30-3 and won the CIF Southern Section Divison 2AA championship.

Census Numbers Show Santa Clarita's Grown By Nearly 17 Percent

census2010It’s true, Santa Clarita is getting bigger and the newly-released statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau show a nearly 17 percent increase in the number of people who call this home.

March 9, 2011 Kings Over Red Wings 2-1

Wednesday, the Kings faced the Red Wings in Detroit. The Red Wings scored early in the first period making it 1-0. The Kings came alive in the second period answering back with goals by Anze Kopitar and Alec Martinez making it 2 to 1 and giving the Kings the game win.

The Kings return to the ice on Friday in Columbus to face the Blue Jackets. AM-1220 KHTS will bring you the game LIVE beginning at 3:30PM!

Mitchell Community Students Show Some Heart

JumpRope2For the first time since 2003, Jump Rope for Heart returned to Mitchell Community Elementary School in Canyon Country.  

The event, which is held periodically by schools throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, raises money for the American Heart Association.
