Antonovich Makes Budget Suggestions In Response To Governor's List

Valencia, Canyon Boys Basketball Teams Advance To Second Round Of CIF Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Valencia boys basketball team erased a four-point halftime deficit and beat Oxnard, 66-55, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs.

Zach Davis scored a career-high 20 points and had 10 rebounds to carry his team to the comeback win. Lonnie Jackson had an off-night shooting, but still finished with 22 points for Valencia, the No. 12 seed in the Division 1AA playoffs.

February 16 2011: Kings Defeat Blue Jackets 4-3

Tonight in Columbus, Ohio, the Kings and the Blue Jackets skated to a 3-3 tie at the end of regulation time. After a five minute sudden death overtime period they were still tied, which forced a dramatic shootout. The Kings' Jarret Stoll scored the only shootout goal in the second round to win the game. Final score: Los Angeles Kings-4, Columbus Blue Jackets-3

Issue Of Property Owners’ Rights Delays Historical Designation Ordinance

khts_citymatters_scvlogoAn updated ordinance that would protect historical sites in Santa Clarita is in dire straits after Tuesday’s Planning Commission meeting. 

After a one-and-a-half hour discussion, the Commission ultimately voted to continue the item to a date uncertain, giving City staff time to conduct stakeholder meetings and rework the ordinance.  

Food Truck Fest Postponed Until February 26

shrimppimpThe Santa Clarita Food Truck Festival, a benefit for the SCV Food Pantry that was set for Saturday, has been postponed due to expected rains this weekend.


Organizers from DrinkEatPlay sent emails to those who purchased advance tickets online advising them that the festival would be held a week later, on Saturday, February 26.

According to an employee at the Valencia branch, who spoke on condition of anonymity, management and employees were informed Wednesday morning.
