Sharon Runner Sworn In As New Senator

sharonrunnerswearinginSurrounded by family and friends, former Assemblywoman Sharon Runner was sworn into office today to represent the 17th Senate District. Runner is the sixth Republican woman in California’s history to be elected to the State Senate.



The sprawling district includes cities and communities in Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern and San Bernardino counties.

khts_sportsThe Santa Clarita Christian girls basketball team is starting to make a habit of winning CIF playoff games.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls knocked off fifth-seeded Lake Arrowhead Christian, 48-38, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 6A playoffs.

Taylor Cubas scored a season-high 37 points and had four steals for Santa Clarita Christian. Michelle Fechtelkotter had 17 rebounds and scored six points.

Four Drug Dealers Taken Off Streets By Sheriff Teams

khts_crimeFour suspected drug dealers were arrested Wednesday in two separate cases and more than 17 pounds of marijuana and other drugs, stolen property and cash were confiscated.



The first operation occurred early Wednesday morning during a compliance check of a drug probationer at a residence in the 23000 block of Santa Clarita Road in Saugus.

February 17, 2011 Kings Lose In Shootout 4-3

Thursday, the Kings continued their roadtrip with a game in New York against the Rangers. Dustin Brown put the Kings on the board in the first period 1 to 0, In the Second period, Rangers Right Wing Ryan Callahan answered back with a goal at 4:01 to tie the game 1-1. Then in the third, Matt Green knocked one in for the Kings and the Rangers answered back with goals by Marian Gabornik, Brandon Dubinsky with Dustin Brown scoring again for the Kings to tie the game 3-3. The New Yorks Rangers won in a forced shootout. 4 to 3 was the final.

Forest Service To Host Career Fair On Saturday
