Rose Society To Discuss Micro-mini Blooms

khts_inthecommunityThe Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society will host Rosarian Suzanne Horn, who will speak about "The Magic of Micro-mini Roses" at their March 13 meeting.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13 at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street in Newhall.

Horn will debut a brand new program about the tiniest, most diminutive of roses – the micro-miniatures.

Dead Man Found At Canyon Country Library

khts_crimeA man was found dead near the Jo Anne Darcy Library in Canyon Country Sunday morning, from what appears to be natural causes.

Homicide investigators are responding to the location to conduct a routine investigation, but at this time, foul play is not suspected.

According to Sgt. Derrick Ballentine, the fire department had responded to a “man down” call, but when they determined the man, a transient, was dead, they called the sheriff’s department.

City Wins Awards For Campout And Discovery Park

Los Padres National Forest Seeks Input On OHV Grant Program

Forest_ServiceThe Forest Service announced today that Los Padres National Forest recreation managers will be seeking public comments on their proposals for the 2010/2011 State of California Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) grant program.  According to state requirements, public comments can be submitted from March 8 through April 4, 2011.

Breaking News: I-5 Closed In Grapevine

The snow and wet weather has prompted a freeway closure of the 5 Freeway in the Grapevine...

Updated: 8:30pm- CHP officials are preparing to close Interstate 5 in the Grapevine, due to increasingly poor driving conditions. Escorts are currently running in both directions northbound and southbound. Snow is starting to stick on the roadway as the temperature drops, prompting the closure. More details will be posted as they become available.

One Person Dead In Friday Night Collision

According to offcials from the Califoria Highway Patrol, the accident occured around 9:22 p.m.
