    February 5 2011: Kings Beat Flames 4-3

    After a scoreless sudden death overtime period, the Kings and the Flames went to a dramatic shootout. Both teams scored in rounds 1 and 2. There were no goals made in rounds 3, 4, 5 or 6. In round 7 Forward Justin Williams ended a 10 game losing streak for the Kings. Final score: Los Angeles Kings-4, Calgary Flames-3

    idelletwoSanta Clarita sculptor Idelle Okman Tyzbir will hold a reception for her sculpture exhibit at the Arts On Main Gallery, from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. Friday, February 18. There will be live jazz, wine and light fare. The exhibit will run from January 29 – February 28.

    Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department/County of Los Angeles Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) team assigned to Santa Clarita Station, joined the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau - Vice Detail to conduct a "John" sting and prostitution sweep operation in Castaic last night.

     

    The operation was conducted in response to complaints of prostitution related activities on Castaic Road.

    Former Dodger players Bill Russell and Al Downing (with Nick at right, more pictures below), dropped by for lunch and to extend their good wishes to Nick Corsinita who was celebrating his 102nd birthday.

Hart Park in Newhall with a 7 p.m. screening of the movie “Chaplin,” starring Robert Downey, Jr. There will be actual props used in the film displayed as well as a talk by Jim Elyea, from History For Hire, who worked on the set.

    Market1The weekly Farmers Markets in Old Town Newhall looked a bit different Thursday evening. Notably, it was swarming with people.  

    Booked alongside the First Thursday Art Walk and a row of gourmet food trucks, the City of Santa Clarita hopes this Farmers Market 2.0, so to speak, will catch on.
