Ground Beef Patties Recalled For E.coli Contamination

khts_recallsAmerican Food Service of Pico Rivera is recalling approximately 3,170 pounds of fresh ground beef patties and other bulk packages of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

FSIS inspection personnel were made aware of the problem when contacted by another federal regulated establishment who believed they had received suspect product.

Zonta To Offer Money Management And Identity Theft Workshop

Zonta_logoTwo important workshops are being offered in the LifeForward series by the Zonta Club of the SCV on Saturday, February 26.

Managing Your Money and Identity Theft will be the topics of the free workshops, which will be conducted from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Desert Streams Church, 26873 Ruether Avenue in Canyon Country.

Free childcare for pre-registered participants will be provided by Single Mothers Outreach, which has recently relocated to the same complex.

Hart Boys Soccer Team Shuts Out Saugus

khts_sportsThe Hart boys soccer team shut out Saugus, 4-0, and won its sixth Foothill League game of the season. The Hart boys are in first place in the Foothill League standings. Edwin Medina scored two goals for Hart.

Hart goalkeeper Ryan Oakey made three saves in the shutout. Nico Ferrero had a goal and an assist. Sammy Reyes scored the fourth goal for Hart.

Kidnapped Woman Surfaces In Santa Clarita

khts_crime_genericA kidnapping that occurred on the 3500 block of Apollo Place in Palmdale was reported to Palmdale Sheriff's Station deputies Saturday at about 3:45 p.m.  

Deputies soon arrived and were told by a citizen that a female was forced into a car by a male, later identified as the suspect. Deputies soon determined the man was the estranged father of the woman's child.
