Four Foothill League Girls Soccer Teams Earn CIF Playoff Spots

khts_sportsFour girls soccer teams from the Foothill League earned spots in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

The Saugus girls are home and will play Newport Harbor in the first round on Thursday. The Valencia girls are on the road and will play Mission Viejo in the first round.

Saugus won the Foothill League championship with a perfect 10-0 record. Valencia is the third-place team from the Foothill League.

Wine Festival Pours On Variety

khts_inthecommunity2In all likelihood, the wine would have sufficed. With a plentiful array of bottles that included representation from Argentina, Spain, France and up and down the California coast, Saturday’s SCV Wine Fest had a little bit of everything and more.  

Like refined tequila, unfiltered sake, filtered sake, single malt scotch, dark brews and glowing limoncello.

Armed Rape Suspect Believed Headed For Los Angeles County

brazeltonmugshotAn Army Private who was in custody on suspicion of raping a minor girl in December 2009 has escaped and is believed to be headed to the Los Angeles area.


Suspect Daniel Brazelton, 20, was in the custody of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department in Hinesville, Georgia, awaiting extradition back to Los Angeles County. He is believed to be in possession of a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

New Library Survey Seeks Local Input

After providing some quick demographic information, the survey asks users to rank their preference for library programs, services and hours.  

Castaic Area High School Informational Meeting Set

City To Host Synchronized Swim Finals, Free To Public

Held at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on March 3rd – March 6th, this event runs all weekend with exciting action for people of all ages.


Valencia Boys Basketball Team Earns No. 12 Seed In CIF Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Valencia boys basketball team got the 12th seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs and will host Oxnard in the first round on Thursday night.

Valencia won the Foothill League championship and is in the top half of the playoff bracket. Oxnard is the third-place team from the Pacific View League.

Sunday, the Kings faced off against the Flyers in Philadelphia with defenseman Drew Doughty scoring the only goal in the game to shutdown the Flyers 1 to 0.
