Newsmaker Of The Week Celebrates 300th Show

SCVTVlogo “Seinfeld” didn’t do it. “M*A*S*H” didn’t do it. Neither did “Cheers.”

Three hundred episodes — and counting. Very few television shows reach such a milestone, but this weekend, the Santa Clarita Valley’s own “SCV Newsmaker of the Week” interview show will celebrate its 300th episode. Fittingly, the guest on SCV Newsmaker No. 300 will be U.S. Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon.

Hospital To Close Avenida Navarre Entrance For Construction

khts_healthDue to construction related to the new trauma helipad and parking structure, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will temporarily close the Avenida Navarre entrance for a two-week period beginning February 28.

Construction will conclude March 13 and the Avenida Navarre entrance to the hospital campus will re-open.

All services will remain accessible during construction and alternative entrance/exits have been identified.

Agencies Sought For Summer Food Service Program

tt-smallState Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson today urged eligible organizations to offer nutritious meals to students while schools are closed for the summer. Participating agencies may apply for reimbursements from the Summer Food Service Program.

 

Dodgers Model 'Throwback' Uniforms Picked By Fan Vote

jersey_frontThe Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that the 1940s “satin” uniform was selected by Dodger fans as the winning “throwback” uniforms for six mid-week day games in 2011.

 

 

Each of the games will feature half-price food and drink, including alcoholic beverages, for the first time ever at Dodger Stadium, with a special half-price six-game ticket plan available for fans who want to attend each of the games.

Interchange Landscaping Project Completed By City

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThe City of Santa Clarita has completed the landscape beautification of the Magic Mountain Parkway/Interstate 5 Interchange project.  This is the final phase of the improvement project which started in July 2006.

McKeon Talks Budget, Cemex, Immigration And Healthcare

Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon stopped to break bread with several constituents Thursday and Friday to give them an update on Washington and find out what issues are important to them. While 90 people turned out in the Antelope Valley on Thursday morning, a turnaway crowd of 150 greeted McKeon on Friday morning, eager to exchange ideas with their representative.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has announced that based on the forecast of snow and icy road conditions, it has closed public access to all County roads within the Station Fire burn area.

 

Two Local Blockbuster Stores Closing

Both locations are starting the liquidation process today. Movies are no longer available for rent, but are available for purchase at a reduced price.
