January 3, 2011 Kings Lose To Chicago 4-3

Monday, the Los Angeles Kings played their first game of 2011 at home against the Chicago Blackhawks. L.A. and Chicago tied it up in the 3rd period but the Blackhawks scored the winning goal in the final minutes of the game. 4 to 3 was the final.

This Thursday, the Kings will face the Nashville Predators at the Staples. You can hear the action LIVE on AM-1220 KHTS beginning at 7PM!

Torlakson Sworn In As State Schools Superintendent

tt-smallThanking Californians for giving him the opportunity to serve, Tom Torlakson took his oath of office as California’s 27th State Superintendent of Public Instruction Monday in a simple ceremony attended by educators, students, and members of his family in the gymnasium of Mount Diablo High School, where he taught science and world history.

Winter Weather Expected To Continue Today

snowfiveSnow and gusty winds will continue to affect the mountains of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties excluding the Santa Monica range and winter weather conditions will continue across the Antelope Valley. An upper level low is expected to drift eastward across California today bringing showers to Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Four Hart Schools Offer E-Waste Collections

ewasteHart District students care about the environment and want to help protect it for future generations. Several Hart District schools are planning free Electronic Waste Recycling events as school fundraisers and to support a reduction in E-Waste that is currently a major contributor to landfills. Certified E-Waste recyclers have been contracted to assist students with the collection process.

Valencia Grad Shane Vereen To Enter NFL Draft

shane_vereenValencia High graduate and California running back Shane Vereen has decided to forego his senior football season and enter the 2011 NFL Draft.

Vereen was an all-Pac-10 selection gaining 1,167 rushing yards and scoring 13 touchdowns in his junior season. Vereen is among Cal leaders in a number of categories. He is tied for third with 29 rushing touchdowns, tied for fourth in total touchdowns with 35 and fifth in all-purpose yards with 4,069.
