Antonovich Offers Criticism And Solutions For State Budget Woes

mikeantonovichLos Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich had more than just criticism for Governor Jerry Brown's proposed budget fixes that were published yesterday - a list of suggested solutions to solving the ongoing budget problems faced by the state, with a warning that local governments may have already too much to bear.

 

Zonta Plans Budget Meals Workshop For Local Women

Zonta_logoHow to make “Easy, Healthy and Nutritious Meals on a Budget” will be the topic for the next LifeForward  workshop offered by Zonta Club of the SCV from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.

The workshops, offered free to local women, have been on hiatus for a few months while Zonta sought a new location where they could offer childcare. The workshops are now scheduled at Desert Streams Church, 26873 Ruether Avenue in Canyon Country.

Foothill League Season Opens Tonight In Boys and Girls Basketball

khts_sportsThe Foothill League season in boys and girls basketball opens tonight with a full slate of games in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The reigning Foothill League champion Valencia boys open on the road against West Ranch. The Golden Valley boys are at Saugus and Hart is at Canyon.

Valencia is 9-5 in the preseason and reached the championship game of the Canyon Classic tournament, losing to host Canyon by one point.

Southbound I-5 Closures Monday And Tuesday Nights

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close part of the southbound Golden State Freeway Z(I-5) on Monday and Tuesday night while crews work on connector construction. The impacted freeway segment is about one mile.

Teams Release Statements On Baseball Family Mourning Arizona Shooting
