Judge Rules In City's Favor, Dismisses Library Lawsuit

khts_crime_genericA woman who reported her car stolen yesterday spotted the vehicle parked on Delight Street in Canyon Country Tuesday morning and called deputies to help her recover the vehicle.

Deputies arrived at the 19400 block of Delight and watched the house, waiting for some activity, but they didn’t have to wait long.

Periods of rain today, ranging from light sprinkles to moderately heavy downpours, are the result of a strong frontal system that is sweeping across southwestern California tonight and Wednesday. Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday night.

 

Runner Resigns Today To Consolidate Election Process

georgerunnerSen. George Runner is resigning from the Senate effective today in preparation to take the oath of office for the Board of Equalization on Jan. 3.

Runner is vacating the 17th Senate District seat earlier than planned to make sure the special election to fill his seat will coincide with the special election to fill the Senate seat previously held by Jenny Oropeza who recently passed away.

Santa Clarita Christian Football Team Turning It Up To 11

khts_sportsThe Santa Clarita Christian football team is taking it to the next level.

Santa Clarita Christian has applied for and received permission to play 11-man football in the 2011 season. The football team has also applied for admission into the San Joaquin League.

Santa Clarita Christian won the CIF Division I 8-man football championships in 2008 and 2009. The team made it to the semifinals of the 8-man playoffs in 2010.

A flash flood watch remains in effect for the recent burn areas –including the Crown burn area in Acton/Agua Dulce, and the Station, Morris and Briggs burn areas - though late Wednesday night.

Peak rainfall rates between one-half and three-quarters of an inch are possible through Wednesday night. Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday night and Wednesday, which would produce even more intense rainfall rates.
