Ferry's Condition Improves, Physical Therapy Planned

frankferrySanta Clarita City Councilman Frank Ferry has made slow, but steady progress toward recovery and began breathing on his own.

According to city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz, he is doing much better and is off the ventilator that has been breathing for him since his return to Providence Holy Cross Hospital the first week of December.

SCV Chamber Selects Kingery As New President/CEO

logo-chamberThe SCV Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Theresa L. Kingery as the new President / CEO effective January 4, 2011. Ms. Kingery has been leading the Chamber of Commerce of Maricopa AZ, since 2006, but had been a resident of Canyon Country prior to Arizona.

Two Arrests Made In Craig's List Robbery

khts_crimeTwo arrests were made in a November 20 robbery that yielded much more than just recovered property.

Deputies responded to the 19200 block of Golden Valley Road in Canyon Country, where two individuals reported they had just been robbed.

The pair said they had driven from Hollywood to meet with the prospective seller of a camera they found on Craig’s List.

Three Santa Clarita Valley Football Players Earn All-Conference Honors In College

khts_sportsThree Santa Clarita Valley high school football products earned all-conference honors in the Pac-10 and Mountain West.

Valencia High graduate Shane Vereen and Hart High graduate Delano Howell earned spots in the All-Pac-10 second teams.

Vereen, a running back at UC Berkeley, rushed for 1,167 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.

Howell, a converted running back playing safety at Stanford, had four interceptions and made 56 tackles.

Court To Rule On Library Lawsuit Next Week

bookpicThe City of Santa Clarita’s attempt to dissolve a pending lawsuit submitted in the aftermath of its decision to withdraw from the County of Los Angeles Public Library has been bumped to December 21.  

According to officials with the Los Angeles Superior Court, a judge today in the Chatsworth courthouse received the demurrer, which could effectively eliminate at least one of the lawsuits filed by Save Our Library against the City.

Street Enhancements And Library Construction To Be Discussed At City Council Meeting
