    Santa Clarita Recognized For Environmental Efforts, Mayor Discusses Newhall Development Plans

Representatives of California Green Cities, Southern California Edison, and Environmental Media Association (EMA) attended the press conference at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Old Town Newhall to award and congratulate Santa Clarita for creating and putting into effect a plan that benefits our environment.

    Jensen Elected President Of Hart Governing Board

    hartdistlogoREDFirst-term board member Robert Jensen, Jr. was elected to lead the William S. Hart Governing Board as president in the coming year at the board’s annual organization meeting Wednesday evening. Jensen was elected to the school board in November 2009 and had previously served on the board of the Newhall School District.

     

    Golden Valley Boys Basketball Team Wins First Game Of Season

    khts_sportsThe Golden Valley boys basketball team won its first game of the season, 68-66, over Highland. Wade Rodriguez hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give Golden Valley the two-point win.

    Rodriguez scored 28 points and made eight 3-pointers.

    The Golden Valley team made 14 3-pointers in the game. James Chevioos scored 15 points and made three 3-pointers.

    After delivering babies for nearly 35 years, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will finally get a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  

    Zonta Honors Four With Virginia Wrage Grants

    WrageAwardsOneFour local women received Virginia Wrage Memorial Grants from Zonta Club of SCV at the group’s monthly business meeting Dec. 8. The four were chosen from a record 36 applications who wrote Zonta to explain why the applicants were seeking the grants and how the funds will help them on the way to self-sufficiency.

     

    Individual grants are available up to $2,000 and Zonta presented $6,500 in awards of varying denominations this year.
