2010: The Year In Review

 

khts_breakingnews2010 was definitely an interesting year. Budget cuts, crime, the accomplishments and the foibles of our government and the overall spirit of our community made reporting the news one of the most interesting jobs on the planet.

 

 

 

Some news outlets have come up with a Top Ten series of news items; we’ve chosen to give you a summary (with a little editorializing in some places) of what kept us talking this year.

Hospital Parking Structure Rises Despite The Rain

parkingstructureConstruction on Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s new parking structure and life-saving helipad is well underway and progressing nicely despite the rainy weather during the last few weeks. The new structure, which is scheduled for completion in 2011, will house parking for 750 cars, and includes a rooftop helipad.

Hart Girls Basketball Team Wins La Canada Tournament

khts_sportsThe Hart girls basketball team won the La Canada Tournament on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Melissa Boscarino.

Her 3-pointer gave Hart a 57-55 win over Montclair Prep in the championship game of the tournament.

Hart made 10 3-pointers in the game. Christina Falcone scored a team-high 20 points for Hart. Teammate Mariah Glasshoff scored eight points and earned tournament most valuable player.

Trucks Slip On Black Ice, Close Highway

chplogoA multi-vehicle accident just before midnight Wednesday caused by black ice resulted in three people going to the hospital and a closure of the eastbound 138 just west of The Old Ridge Route Road.

December 30, 2010 King Lose To Flyers 7-4

Thursday, the Kings faced the Philadelphia Flyers at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In the last game of the year for the Kings, they came up short and lost to the Flyers. The final score was 7 to 4.

 

Next meeting for the Kings will be at home when they face the San Jose Sharks on New Years Day. Catch the game LIVE on AM-1220 beginning at 5:30PM!
