Veterans Saluted With Emotional City Ceremony

vetscolorguardHundreds of people turned out to celebrate freedom and honor our country’s veterans today in Old Newhall.

Flags were respectfully changed, then soared back to the top of their poles to snap in the wind; young girls sang, old men reminisced, a new citizen and proud Marine inspired and a community showed their gratitude.


Grow Lights Donated To Science Students For AP Program

sheriffbadgeThe Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - Santa Clarita Valley Station donated dozens of lights, ballasts, bulbs and lighting systems to Golden Valley High School today. The equipment, confiscated from an illegal drug operation, was donated to the school’s biology and environmental science programs


Cal State System Continues To Increase Tuition

khts_schools_chalkboardAfter raising fees for the current fall semester by 5 percent, the Cal State University Board of Trustees agreed on Wednesday to raise tuition by 15 percent for the 2011-2012 academic year.  

Veterans Honored At Grand Opening

Newhall District To Receive Golden Bell Award At State Conference

The award was won in the Curriculum category for the district’s Coherent Writing Program under the direction of Assistant Superintendent, Nancy Copley and the members of the district’s Writing Committee.

Valencia Football Team Has Foothill League Championship In Sight

khts_sportsThe Valencia football team will look to wrap up the Foothill League championship tonight against Saugus.

But beating Saugus is no gimme.

Valencia is coming off a 49-17 win over Golden Valley. The Vikings are 4-0 in league play and have a four-game winning streak.

Saugus is coming off a 21-20 loss to West Ranch, but the Centurions are in a fight for their playoff lives. Saugus has a strong running game with Tyler Watt and Jared Carbajal.
