Lighted Boats To Highlight Winter Magic Festival

khts_holidayspecialThe Friends of Castaic Lake and the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation are sponsoring the 17th annual Winter Magic Festival, featuring a lighted boat parade.

The event will begin at Castaic Lake at 2 p.m. with children’s games, snow to play in, food and snacks. Music will follow, with the arrival of Santa Claus before a breathtaking display of holiday lights on boats that will parade around the lower lagoon.

Comedy Night To Benefit Santa Clarita Homeless Shelter

Comedians from J.R.’s Comedy Club will be featured in this fundraiser being held at the Blessed Kateri Slattery Hall, 22508 Copper Hill Drive in Saugus.

Community Tree Lighting Set For December 5

The lighting is the culmination of the 25th annual Community Tree Lighting celebration which begins at 2 p.m. on the hospital campus.

Remains Positively Identified As Orange County Woman

Ekelund_copyThe Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has officially identified the remains found last week on the grounds of LARC Ranch as those of Lynsie Ekelund, an Orange County college student who disappeared in February 2001 after a night out with friends.



She was buried there after she was killed in a Whittier apartment by suspect Chris McAmis almost 10 years ago.

Cooley Holds Slight Lead Against Harris As Votes Trickle In

cooleyLos Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley is still slightly ahead of San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, his challenger for State Attorney General.

The latest numbers from the Secretary of State show Cooley with 3,975,095 votes or 45.9 percent and Harris with 3,955,738 votes or 45.7 percent.

West Ranch Makes CIF Football Playoffs For First Time

West Ranch earned its first CIF playoff berth with a 37-21 win over Hart. West Ranch also beat Hart for the first time in school history and finished with their first Foothill League winning record at 3-2.
