Cyclist Injured By Hit And Run Driver In Castaic

khts_crime_chpA 59-year old Castaic man was hit while riding his bicycle on The Old Road just south of Parker Road Sunday afternoon by a driver who fled the scene but was later arrested.

While an arrest has been made, the CHP is still looking for information about the collision and is asking anyone with details about the incident to call the Newhall station at 294-5540.

College Stretches Its Wings East And West

COClogoCollege of the Canyons is busy with construction work on both campuses Tuesday.

At the Canyon Country campus, the walls to the Applied Technology building are scheduled to go up around 8:30 Tuesday morning near the far end of parking lot 2.

The 6,000 square foot building will include four classrooms, a computer lab and instructors offices as well as provide a permanent home for the college’s auto tech program and green construction programs.

E. coli O157:H7 causes diarrhea illness often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure. Young children and the elderly are most susceptible to serious complications and even death.

Santa Clarita Christian Cruises To Second Round Of CIF Football Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Santa Clarita Christian football team is back to showing no mercy to its opponents.

Santa Clarita Christian beat Riverside Prep, 46-0, in a mercy-rule win in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I 8-man football playoffs.

Quarterback Mark Hovey threw three touchdown passes, two to Ryan Espinosa. Santa Clarita Christian was up 46-0 at halftime and the game was called because of a 45-point mercy rule.

Valencia Earns No. 4 Seed In CIF Northern Division Football Playoffs

khts_sportsThe Valencia football team earned the No. 4 seed in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division playoffs and will play Highland, the fourth-place team from the Golden League, in the first round on Friday night.

The playoff pairings for the Northern Division playoffs were released on Sunday. Four teams from the Foothill League earned playoff berths.

I really love the versatility of meat loaf, or in this case turkey loaf. It’s sort of a kitchen-sink kind of dish around here. I like to put grated vegetables such as carrots or zucchini in ours. You will always find sautéed onions or shallots and herbs in the ones I make. They are sort of a whole meal in themselves.
