Move For Revised Special Library Tax Denied

Arraignment Continued For Suspect In Murder Of Orange County Woman

khts_crime_genericOn Tuesday, a judge in the Whittier Municipal Court continued the arraignment of Christopher McAmis, the lead suspect in the murder of Lynsie Ekelund, to January 20, 2011.  

Ekelund, an Orange County college student, disappeared in February 2001 after a night out with McAmis and two friends.  

COC Men's Soccer Team Advances To Semifinals Of Southern California Regional Playoffs

khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons men’s soccer team is in the semifinals of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional after a 3-1 win over Santa Ana College.

The COC men scored three goals in the final seven minutes of the game to upset No. 2 Santa Ana College. COC’s Jose Reyes tied the game, 1-1, with a goal in the 83rd minute.

Board Of Supervisors Approves $1 Million For Elsmere Canyon

Local Elementary School Receives Science Grant

khts_schools_chalkboardFor the last few years Valencia Valley Elementary School watched as other schools in the Newhall School District raised funds and built science labs. This year dedicated school parents, who either belong to the PTA or are involved in the school’s foundation, decided to focus their efforts on constructing a science lab of their own.  

Dodgers Ink Uribe To Three-Year Deal

dodgerslogoThe Los Angeles Dodgers signed infielder Juan Uribe today to a three-year contract. General Manager Ned Colletti made the announcement.

“Juan provides us with a big bat in the middle of the infield and can change a game with one swing,” said Colletti. “His versatility is a huge asset, as he can play second base, third base and shortstop and he’s a two-time World Champion, so he knows what it takes to win.”

Cam Fowler scored for the Ducks while on a power play during the second period, and Jason Blake scored late in the third period to complete a win for the Ducks. Just as the new holiday season begins to bring unwelcome challenges to the immune system, a popular brand for fighting colds has been recalled.  

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc., is recalling, from the wholesale and retail level, three Tylenol Cold Multi-Symptom liquid products in order to update the labeling.
