    COC Women's Golf Team Wins 3rd WSC Tournament

    khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons women’s golf team won its third Western State Conference golf match of the season and its 12th in a row.

    The COC women shot 327 and beat Bakersfield by 14 shots. Glendale College was third at 344.

    COC’s Tiara Wells shot a 4-over par, 76, to lead all golfers. Teammate Hannah Lee was 8-over par at 80 and Cindi Rohn was 13-over par at 85.

    Hart District Honors Teachers Of The Year

All 17 were presented to the Hart District Governing Board at its Sept. 15 meeting and honored for their outstanding contributions to their school. One teacher was named as the District Teacher of the Year.

    Sacramento Committees To Address Public Employee Salaries

    khts_budgetOn Wednesday, September 22, the Assembly Committee on Local Government, Joint Legislative Audit Committee, and Assembly Committee on Accountability and Administrative Review will hold a joint oversight hearing on local government transparency and compensation.

     

    Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, who chairs the Assembly Committee on Local Government, said that the situation south of Santa Clarita brought about the hearings.

    Abercrombie Named GM At Valencia Water Company

    Prior to Valencia Water Company, Abercrombie was with Newhall Land, the owner of Valencia Water Company, as the Vice President, Agriculture and as Manager of Energy Resources, joining in 1987.

    khts_recallsHallmark Fisheries of Charleston, Ore., is recalling several packaged crab meat products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

    COC Football Team Wins Home Opener Against Citrus College

    khts_sportsThe College of the Canyons football team won its home opener, 38-24, against Citrus College on Saturday night.

    Chris Rivas scored a school record three touchdowns for COC. He caught eight passes for 196 yards. One of his touchdowns came on a 90-yard pass from quarterback Justin Arias.

    COC running back Joey Garba rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

    13 People Missing In Antelope Valley

    ChicasUPDATE 12:00 p.m.: Authorities say the 13 missing people have been found praying at a Los Angeles County park. All members are apparently safe.

    Five adults and eight children are missing under questionable circumstances since Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
