City Council To Weigh Parking Enforcement Options

khts_citymatters_scvlogoAt Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the members will consider awarding a contract to an outside company that would issue and process parking citations within Santa Clarita. 

If approved, the contract would go to Data Ticket, Inc., a small corporation out of Newport Beach that, when founded in 1989, initially collected delinquent parking citations that were considered uncollectible.  

COC Hosts Career Day For Hart District Students

COClogoStudents and parents from Hart District high schools are invited to a College of the Canyons SCV College2Career Day to meet representatives from more than 25 colleges and universities and learn more about entrance requirements, tuition and specialties at each school. This free event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the COC Valencia Campus.

McKeon Hosts Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Caucus

BuckrealopenspeechOn Wednesday September 22, the Congressional Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Caucus hosted the 2010 Technology Fair in the foyer of the Rayburn House Office Building. The Caucus’ third event for 2010 focused on the full spectrum of unmanned systems from innovative hardware to the end-users in defense, law enforcement, and scientific communities.


College Of The Canyons To Host 3rd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Event

COClogoIn observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness month, the College of the Canyons Social Science and Business Division will host the third annual Domestic Violence Awareness event and donation drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, in the COC Honor Grove, located on the college’s Valencia campus.  

Red Flag Warning In Effect

khts_weather_100degreesSoaring temperatures are supposed to come down tonight after baking the area for the last three days, but the red flag warning continues.



The National Weather Service predicts hot and dry conditions, with temperatures between 100 and 110, will dominating the Santa Clarita Valley today, cooling off slightly tomorrow.

City Offers Paperwork Guidance To Vendors

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThe City of Santa Clarita will present a “How to Fill Out a Solicitation,” a program that is part of the City’s Vendor Outreach efforts. The presentation will cover the steps necessary for filling out Quotes and Bids that are published by the City.


The informative session will take place on Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Century Room of City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.

Valencia's Manfro Scores 4 TDs Against Palmdale

khts_sportsIt was a good weekend for the football teams from the Foothill League.

The Valencia High football team beat Palmdale, 45-7, at Valencia High School. Steven Manfro scored four touchdowns, one on a 92-yard kick-off return to start the game. He has 14 touchdowns in three games. Valencia is 3-0 and is showing little sign of slowing down.

Crawford To Be Honored By Zonta Club
