September 6 2010: Dodgers Lose To Padres 4-2

The Dodgers had only half their offense show up as they limped into getting only two runs this evening. The Padres dig themselves out of a ten game losing streak now as they win this first of three game series. Burglary Suspect Boosts Charges With Escape Attempt

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station foiled a jail escape attempt at their station Monday.

Ryan Martinez, 20, of Palmdale, was arrested at the Best Western Valencia Inn today at 2:45 on suspicion of a Sept. 3 residential burglary in Saugus.

City and Volunteers Team Up To Clean Up For River Rally

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThe City of Santa Clarita will host the 16th annual River Rally event on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Soledad Shopping Center, located at 18386 Soledad Canyon Road.  Participants will be provided with gloves, collection bags, and refreshments. The first 1200 volunteers will receive a commemorative giveaway.

Circus Vargas Food Drive For The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry

West Nile Still A Problem, Vigilance Recommended

mosquitobitingWest Nile virus (WNV) activity continues in Los Angeles County as children head back to school. The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (GLACVCD) identified two more WNV positive mosquito samples and two more WNV positive dead birds.

 

 

Dodger Transactions In August

The Dodgers put Manny Ramirez on waiver and the Chicago White Sox claimed him ending the Mannywood era at Dodger Stadium. Ramirez became a White Sox and the Dodgers received nothing in return. Other transactions include the activation of reliever Ronald Belisario the Dodgers catcher Russell Martin was put on the disabled list. He had season ending hip surgery.

Artists Brighten Health Centers' Walls

LargeCanvasHangingThe Santa Clarita Artists' Association is holding the 21st annual Art Classic to raise funds to make art available to healthcare facilities.  The event will be held from 1-5 p.m. on October 17th at Hart Hall at Hart Park in Newhall.  A free public viewing will be held at the same location from 1-5 p.m. on Oct 16.

Virginia Wrage Memorial Grants Offered By Zonta Club Of SCV
