City Votes To Have Outside Company Handle Parking Enforcement

khts_citymatters_scvlogoAt Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the members voted to contract with an outside company to respond to parking complaints and administer citations, hoping to relieve the responsibility from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.  

September 28 2010: Dodgers Beat Rockies 9-7

It was a close one for the Dodgers as they hold on and beat the Rockies Tuesday night. The Dodger's hitting was on target as Matt Kemp and Casey Blake had a home run each at the top of the 3rd inning. Poor pitching by the Dodgers let the Rockies tie up the game at the bottom of the 7th inning. Then another home run by Casey Blake at the top of the 9th inning was enough to put away the Rockies for good. The final score was 9-7. Dodgers And Rancho Cucamonga Reach Affiliation Agreement

Turtle's Getaway Thwarted By Sand Canyon Good Samaritan

TurtleLostGayle Jemison was enroute to a client’s home Sunday when she saw a redneck renegade attempting to make a getaway across the heat-softened tarmac of Live Oak Springs Canyon Road in Sand Canyon.

“He was moving pretty quickly through the intersection,” Jemison said. “But it was pretty hot, so I picked him up.”

Federal Government Awards Grant For First-Responder Communication System

Antonovich joined with local officials in praising a $155 million grant from the Federal Government for the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System (LA-RICS) -- a modern, integrated wireless voice and data communications system that will support more than 34,000 first responders and local mission-critical personnel within the region.

 

Runner's Blue Alert Signed Into Law By Governor

georgerunnerSen. George Runner today announced Senate Bill 839, known as “Blue Alert,” has been signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger.

The “Blue Alert”, which will parallel the existing statewide Amber Alert notification system, will be activated when a peace officer has been killed, seriously wounded or assaulted with a firearm and the suspect has fled the scene.

Valencia Cross Country Teams Win Bell-Jeff Invitational Meet

khts_sportsThe Valencia boys and girls cross country teams were winners at the Bell-Jeff Invitational at Griffith Park over the weekend.

Valencia’s Falco DiGiallornado won the boys red division race in 15 minutes, 2 seconds.

Sarah Adams won the girls red division race in 18 minutes, 15 seconds.

The Dodgers had a great showing tonight as they got the lead early in the game and kept it the whole way. Ted Lilly got the win as they finish the game 3-1 Dodgers. President Signs Bill To Help Small Business

President Barack Obama signed into law a $42 billion bill to aid small businesses Monday, saying it would create jobs by providing tax credits and helping banks increase loans.

"It's going to cut taxes. It's going to make more loans available for small businesses. It's a great victory for America's entrepreneurs," Obama said to applause at the White House signing ceremony.
