Temperatures Fall In Santa Clarita

cloudsdrizzleWith summer coming to a close, Santa Clarita is about to enter a brief period of cool weather, with fog and potential drizzle running through the week.  

This comes after two hot, dry months of summer, with temperatures routinely hitting at least 100 degrees.  

The Master's College Women's Soccer Team Posts Pair Of Shutouts

khts_sportsThe Master’s College women’s soccer team is living up to the hype. The 22nd ranked team in the NAIA moved up a spot in the national rankings and posted a pair of 5-0 shutouts over the weekend.

The Master’s College beat the College of St. Mary from Nebraska and William Jessup from Northern California.

Alissa Adkins had a goal and an assist in The Master’s College’s win over the College of St. Mary.

September 7 2010: Dodgers Lose To Padres 2-1

The Dodgers was shutdown by the surpreme pitching from the Padres Tuesday night. The Dodgers struck out 14 times during the game. The final score was 2-1. Tune in Wednesday at  6:30pm as the Dodgers take on the Padres here on your hometown station AM-1220, KHTS.

Three Men Arrested For Vehicle Burglary

khts_crimeThree men are in custody at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station on suspicion of burglary.

According to Lt. Steve Low, the trio were seen breaking into a car in an open garage in the 28000 block of Tiffany Lane. When deputies arrived, they were given the mens’ description and quickly located them.

After talking with the men and recovering some stolen merchandise, all three were arrested without further incident.

Girl Followed, Harassed Near Saugus High

khts_crime_genericDeputies responded to a 911 call of child annoyance Friday afternoon around 4 p.m. in the 23000 block of Cerda Drive in Saugus. A 14-year old girl told the officers that she had been followed and approached by a car full of men while she walked home from school.


Decisions On Old Town Newhall’s Outdoor Look Expected Tonight

Free Community Health Fair Set For Friday In Newhall

khts_healthLocal residents can get their vitals checked and learn about healthy living at a free community health fair is scheduled on Friday, September 10, from 7:30-10:30 a.m., at the Santa Clarita Community Center in Newhall. The fair is sponsored by Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

During the health fair, the community is invited to participate in free health screenings and receive valuable healthcare tips and information to promote heart health.

Valencia Man Dies In Holiday Crash

khts_crime_chpThe only fatality over the Labor Day weekend in the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall area was a Valencia man who died Saturday morning when his wife lost control of the car she was driving, hit the center median and careened across six lanes of traffic.

Golden Valley Football Team Opens With Win Over Simi Valley

sportsgoldenvalleyThe Golden Valley football team is off to its best start in school history. The Grizzlies won their season opener, 31-19, over Simi Valley on Friday night.

Golden Valley has its first winning record since opening the 2008 season 2-1 and snapped a 15-game losing streak.

Trailing Simi Valley by one point, Golden Valley scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win the game.
