Man Makes A Scene During Exposure Arrest

khts_crimeA 30-year old Valencia resident created quite the disturbance when deputies tried to arrest him for indecent exposure.

Jeremy Bixler, 30, was lying on the grass with his pants down and his private parts exposed at Valencia Central Valley Park, in the neighborhood behind Granary Square on Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses called the sheriff’s department and Deputies Dubin and Jones responded.

City Prepared For Next Steps In Library Takeover

khts_citymatters_scvlogoFollowing Tuesday's decision by the City Council of Santa Clarita to acquire the libraries within its jurisdiction, staff is set to officially notify the County of Los Angeles of the move and execute its contract with Library Systems and Services, the Maryland-based company likely to manage the City libraries.

Weiss: Santa Clarita's Loss, Texas' Gain

WEISSwithkeyMore than 100 people gathered at the city’s activity center Wednesday night to bid farewell to Stephanie and Jim Weiss, longtime residents who are leaving Santa Clarita for a new home in Austin, Texas.

The event was organized by Randy Cressall and Betty Peters to give people a chance to have one last evening with the couple. City Council members Marsha McLean, Laurie Ender and Frank Ferry presented Stephanie with a key to the city, something Ferry said was a rarity.

Hart District Named Mix It Up Model On Tolerance Website

MIXGirls_w_handsTeaching Tolerance, an arm of the Southern Poverty Law Center, has named the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District a Model School District, the only district in the nation to achieve the honor this year. CHP To Conduct DUI Checkpoint

chplogoOn Friday, August 27, the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. The checkpoint will begin at approximately 8:30 P.M. and conclude at approximately 2:30 A.M.

Valencia's Max Homa Reaches 2nd Round Of Match Play At USGA Amateur Championship

khts_sportsValencia High graduate Max Homa won his first round of match play in the U.S. Golf Association’s Amateur Championship at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash.

He defeated T.J. Bordeaux of Tacoma, Wash., 2 and 1, to advance in the Amateur Championship.

Homa, a sophomore at UC Berkeley, plays Carter Newman from Augusta, Ga., in the second round of match play this morning. The third round will be played later in the afternoon.

UPDATED: Lightning Strikes In AV Causing Brush Fires

Firefighters have knockdown on a blaze that was started by lightning near the Crown Fire burn area. Resources from both LA County and the U.S. Forest Service battled the brush fire that consumed eight acres.

Units staged at the Santiago Canyon and the 14 freeway.

Water tankers from the Angeles National Forest made drops in the area to knock down the fires.
