CHP Unit Rolls In Placerita Canyon

chplogoA local California Highway Patrol officer and his Explorer ridealong passenger suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when their patrol car rolled over in Placerita Canyon.

According to CHP Officer John Lutz, Officer Terrence Roach and an Explorer assigned to the Newhall station were traveling northbound on Placerita Canyon Road enroute to assist with a traffic stop when they entered a left-hand curve and the right wheels left the road.

Members Of Local Karate Team Win Awards At Martial Arts Championship

karatekicksOn June 27, more than 2,000 participants, including 16 members of the Newhall Community Center’s karate team, competed at the 2010 IMAC World Martial Arts Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Competitors from as far as Canada and Mexico exhibited their martial art skill in this prestigious competition. Despite the intense competition, every participant from the team representing the City of Santa Clarita managed to place in the tournament.

Help The Children In Santa Clarita Grand Opening

Pro-Pet Supplement Recall Expanded Due To Salmonella Contamination

Beef Filet Pet Food Recalled For Salmonella

Salmonella can affect animals and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products.

 

Valencia Freshman Alison Lee Qualifies For U.S. Women's Open Golf Tournament

Valencia High freshman Alison Lee is at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania preparing for her second U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament.

Last year, as a 14-year-old, Lee was the youngest player to make the cut in the Women’s U.S. Open. She finished in a tie for 26th place.

This year, she is one of 20 teenagers who earned spots in the U.S. Women Open through sectional qualifying.

The first round of the U.S. Women’s Open is Thursday.
