    KHTS Office To Hold Health Drink Seminar

    This Thursday at 6 p.m., KHTS AM-1220 opens the doors to the public at its Canyon Country office for a 30-minute seminar on Kyani health beverages.  

    Kyani’s products contain “the miracle berry,” an Alaskan blueberry that contains more anti-oxidizing, disease-fighting and nutritional power that any fruit or vegetable available.  

    “Since taking the product my energy has gone through the roof,” said Jeri Seratti-Goldman, co-owner of KHTS. 

    CHP To Conduct DUI Checkpoint Friday

    On Friday, the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. The checkpoint will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. and conclude at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24.

    FDA Puts Slim-30 Herb Supplement On Notice

    khts_recallsJ & H Besta Corp. of Hicksville, NY, has been informed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that FDA lab analysis of Slim-30 Herb Supplement distributed by the company was found to contain undeclared N-Desmethyl Sibutramine and traces of Sibutramine. Sibutramine is an FDA-approved drug used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. The FDA has not approved this product, therefore the safety and effectiveness of the product is unknown.

    Canyon High Graduate Greg Pursley Finishes Ninth In NASCAR West Series Race

    khts_sportsCanyon High graduate Greg Pursley finished ninth in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Portland International Raceway in Oregon. Pursley was in the lead for 14 laps midway through the race.

    Patrick Long, a driver from Thousand Oaks, won the race and led a race-high 51 laps. He started on the pole and led the first 30 laps of the race. Pursley took over the lead during green-flag pit stops, but Long regained the lead on lap 45.

    Who doesn’t like corn on the cob? My family and I eat corn on the cob two to three times a week this time of year. It’s inexpensive and goes with just about anything off the grill. I don’t know about you, but I am all for not using my oven from now until September.

    The Betty Ferguson Foundation’s (BFF) Mes Amies womens’ group will honor their annual tradition of meeting their Woman of Honor recipient at a gathering at 7:00 p.m. on August 17.

    Jacquie Petersen is the Woman of Honor for 2010. Attending the Mes Amies meeting is one of the ways she will give to the community as she attends the Mes Amies function to meet and share a meal with those women.

    Fire Near Central Park Causes Power Outages

    Early this morning, an electrical box located on Bouquet Canyon Road near Central Park caused a small brush fire.  It was quickly contained and extinguished.

    Resulting power outages are expected to be repaired by 6:00 p.m. tonight.

    There are no reported traffic delays on Bouquet near the site.
