New Fare Structure For Santa Clarita Transit

khts_citymatters_scvlogoStarting tomorrow, August 1, the Transit fares for both local and commuter routes will be restructured.  Local transfers will be replaced by a “ Local Day Pass ” which allows riders to travel on Santa Clarita Transit as many times as they would like during an operational day.

McKeon To Speak At Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce

buckmckeonOn Tuesday, Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon will be speaking to the Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce during their monthly luncheon.

This will be one of several district stops for the Congressman over the Congressional August recess period, where he is set to discuss the economy, jobs, federal spending, and the “American Speaking Out” initiative.

Circle Of Hope Hires New Executive Director

RayTippetCircle of Hope, Inc. has hired an experienced Executive Director, Ray J. Tippet, to become the first hired Executive Director.  Colleen Shaffer, the founder, is expanding into Programs Director.  

The COH Board of Directors concluded its nationwide search for an Executive Director selecting Ray Tippet as our top choice from a field of highly qualified and talented candidates. The Board believes Ray will be an invaluable asset to the organization.  

July Dodger Transactions

It was a busy month for the Dodgers, and the team made a lot of moves, but it seems as if the Dodgers are unsure about what to do in the bullpen.




Many of thetransactions made in July had a lot to do with pitching. Although the Dodgers suffered a couple of injuries, they welcomed the return of veteran catcher Brad Ausmus. Here is this month’s complete list of transactions.


July 30 2010: Dodgers Lose To Giants 6-5

Despite a ninth inning rally, the Giants defeated the Dodgers. Final score: Dodgers 5 - Giants 6.

Breaking News: Five-Vehicle Collision On I-5 N And Valencia Boulevard

P7010152At approximately 11:15 a.m. there was a collision on the I-5 North nearing the Valencia Boulevard offramp. Five vehicles were involved, including two semi trucks.

The CHP, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Cal Trans worked to clear everything up, re-opening all the lanes by 3:00 p.m.

KHTS suggested using the Highway 14 North and The Old Road as alternate routes.
