    Artists Will Pop For This Exhibit

    bubblewrapThe City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Arts Commission are seeking artist submissions to develop an exhibition celebrating the 50th “birthday” of Bubble Wrap.

    Artists’ will submit artwork using Bubble Wrap as a component of an art piece, and at least 20 pieces will be selected for inclusion in the exhibit.

    "Bubble-licious: All Bubbles Are Not Created Equal” is an Art in Public Places program created by the City of Santa Clarita.

    Local Places Great For Art

    The Santa Clarita Artists' Association will host their 21st annual Art Classic this October, but a number of the artists who will be showcasing art are getting a jump start on their works.

    The deadline to enter a piece of art for the Art Classic is September 9, and many artists are using local places as the inspiration for their pieces.

    Cecily Williams used Le Chene Restaurant as the idea behind her piece painted in watercolor.

    Jane Mick chose romantic view of the Westfield Valencia Town Center for her piece created in oil.

    Come See A Fairy Tale This Summer

    A pumpkin turns into a carriage, mice become horses, and a young girl becomes a beautiful princess when Cabrillo Music Theatre’s production of Cinderella weaves a spell on audiences this summer.

    On July 23, a production of Cinderella will come to the Kavli Theatre at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

    Look up and what looks like a normal plane could soon be a drone. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs are common place in Middle East war zones but they may soon be flying over here.

    In a standing-room only conference, the Congressional Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Caucus hosted a roundtable discussion on the integration of Unmanned Systems into the National Airspace (NAS).

    Gang Member Caught Up In Compliance Sweep

    khts_crimeA 22-year old armed gang member tried to run from police during a routine parole compliance check on Wednesday, but a trip and fall put him right at deputies’ feet.

    Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's / City of Santa Clarita Community Interaction Team (CIT) were conducting the check at a residence in the 23900 block of Race Street.

    June 18, 2010: The Dodgers Lose To The Red Sox 10-6

    'Big Poppy', Boston's David Ortiz got the Red Sox on the score board first with a two run homer in the bottom of the second inning. Then, after a few minute umpire review, JD Drew was awarded a solo home run. The Red Sox never fell behind. The Dodgers did manage to tie the game at three in the top of the third, but the Red Sox bats lit up three different Dodgers pitchers for a dozen hits and seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

    McKeon To Host Academy Luncheon Honoring Appointees

    flagCongressman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon is set to host his annual Academy Luncheon to honor students selected as appointees to United States Service Academies on Saturday at Santa Clarita City Hall.

    Attending the luncheon are representatives of four academies of the United States service as well as the 14 students who have been appointed to the United States Service Academies.
