SCV Deputies Make 750th Drug-Related Arrest In 2010

khts_crimePatrol deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station made 12 drug-related arrests (nine felonies and three misdemeanors) over the weekend, bringing their total for the year to just over 750.

Drug Arrest #750 was made just after 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Newhall Park, when Alberto Cruz, 27, of Newhall was acting suspiciously near one of the park’s vending machines.

Kings Announce 2010-2011 Season

sportskingsThe Los Angeles Kings will open the 2010-11 season with a two-game road before hosting the Atlanta Thrashers (Oct. 12), Vancouver Canucks (Oct. 15) and Carolina Hurricanes (Oct. 20) at STAPLES Center as part of a three-game homestand, the Kings and the NHL announced today. The Kings will open the season on the road at Vancouver (Oct. 9) and at Calgary (Oct. 10).

Performing Arts Center Updates Plan For Schools

Since June 2008, the goal of the program has been to bring together leaders of school districts and community to advance an effort to explore the feasibility of creating partnerships that would provide a rich array of diverse art education opportunities to students.

West Ranch Undefeated In Valley Invitational Baseball League

khts_sportsThe West Ranch baseball team improved to 7-0 with a 10-1 win over Golden Valley in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.

West Ranch is the only undefeated team left in the summer baseball league.

West Ranch scored six runs in the first inning against Golden Valley. Josh Bird capped the inning with a two-run home run. He was 2-for-2 and scored a run for West Ranch.

SCV Food Pantry To Distribute Federal Grant Food

khts_inthecommunityThe Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry has been chosen by the County of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank as a distribution site for the ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) Food Kit Project from June through September 2010.

 

City Council Introduces Campaign Donation Changes

khts_citymatters_scvlogoDuring the regular City Council meeting at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night, the Council is expected to introduce a resolution that will change limits on campaign donations.

The resolution would increase the limit individuals can donate to $1000. Also included in the resolution would remove anonymity from donations.
