UPDATED Brush Fire Near Calgrove Knocked Down

Firefighters have knockdown on a brush fire near the Oak Tree gun club on the southbound side of I-5. All lanes are open on the freeway and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which was the lead of the multiagency response, has declared knockdown on the fire.

Newhall Ranch EIS/EIR Available For 30-Day Review

The Department of Fish and Game has released the Newhall Ranch Project final Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report.

The report includes revisions made during the public review of the draft environmental analysis April to August 2009.

City Council Hosts Special Meeting On Immigration

The meeting will feature three separate presentations on the various complex issues relating to immigration. Following the presentations the public will have an opportunity to speak and the City Council will discuss the issue.

Local Teen Unveils Art in Washington, D.C.

Congressional_art_copyCongressman Buck McKeon recently met with Darryl Naito, a Saugus High School Senior who won this year’s Congressional Art Competition for California’s 25th District for his piece entitled "Breaching," using the medium of block print on raw canvas.   Naito traveled to Washington, D.C.

West Ranch Baseball Team Rallies To Beat St. Francis in VIBL

khts_sportsThe West Ranch baseball team squeaked past St. Francis and stayed undefeated in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.

West Ranch scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat St. Francis, 6-5, and improve to 8-0 in the summer baseball league.

Michael Alvarez hit a one-out triple for West Ranch in the seventh. Ryan Keller drove him in with a two-out single.
