Reward Extended In Lombardi Murder Case

khts_crimeThe Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors extended the offer of a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer or murderers of Valencia resident Anthony Lombardi during their meeting Tuesday.

Lombardi was found slumped out of the driver’s seat and partially in the driveway of his home on Undine Drive by three teenagers on their way home from school. He had been shot several times in the upper torso.

Civil Settlement Reached In PETCO Case

CastaicAnimal_April_BysonPETCO Animal Supplies, Inc., agreed today to settle a $1.75 million consumer protection lawsuit alleging that the company overcharged consumers and improperly cared for animals.

The District Attorneys of four California counties, including Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, and the City Attorney of San Diego filed the civil complaint in San Diego Superior Court.


Body Armor Restrictions Signed Into Law

Newhall Man Arrested For Stabbing Drinking Buddy

Alcohol is suspected in a stabbing incident that took place early Tuesday morning in Canyon Country.

Sgt. Gary Parker of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station said that some people were drinking in an apartment on Isabella Parkway when a fight ensued around 4:45 a.m. and Kevin Oates, 25, of Newhall, stabbed another man in the apartment.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, Parker did not know if his injuries were life-threatening.

The Dodgers shutout the Diamondbacks Tuesday night as the game went into extra innings. A Matt Kemp home run at the bottom of the 10th inning was the winning run. The final score was 1-0. Percussive Drum Competition Coming To SCV

Drum_SticksDrummers from the Santa Clarita Valley are being summoned for a nationwide drum competition. CHOPS, a nationwide percussive art competition, is hosting competitions across the country and drummers could win cash prizes.

Round one of the competition takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Northpark Community Church.

Magic Mountain Holds Back Debut Of Mr. Six Coaster

sixflags_redtowerConstruction delays have set back the debut of “Mr. Six's DanceCoaster,” a family-friendly ride originally scheduled to open this summer at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

The coaster frame has been delivered from its former home in a closed New Orleans park, where it was operated under the name “Road Runner Express.” The tracks are steel, measuring 679 feet long with a 28-foot lift hill, and will take riders at speeds of up to 21 miles an hour.

CHP Arrests 28 For Drinking And Driving Over Holiday

khts_crime_chpOfficials in the Newhall area of the California Highway Patrol made 28 arrests for driving under the influence during the recent Maximum Enforcement Period over the Memorial Day weekend.

Officer John Lutz reported that the number of arrests were nearly double the arrests made last year, when 17 drivers were taken into custody.


He said that there were no fatal accidents during this period this year and in 2009.



Small Spot Fire On Northbound 14 Freeway

A small spot fire flared on an island near of the northbound 14 at Newhall Avenue around 1:30 p.m.

By the time County and LA City Fire units responded; most of the fire had already been extinguished by a driver who stopped at the island.

The fire was out by 1:45 p.m.



COC Receives Grant For Boston Scientific Training
