    Thanks to a sharp-eyed reader and a knowledgeable birding friend, I learned that the bird I had initially identified as a Red-Shouldered Hawk was, in fact, a Cooper’s Hawk.  I’m not sure if it’s egg or guano on my face, but I apologize for the error.  The story has been revised to be more accurate.

    Despite a late in the game rally, the Dodgers were disappointed in the first game of their series against the Atlanta Braves. Final score: Braves 4 and the Dodgers 3.

    Town Hall Meeting Evokes Strong Emotions

    townhall3Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon held a Town Hall meeting Thursday afternoon, where a few subjects provoked a yelling match between audience members.

    Robert Hawkins, 48, of Valencia, addressed the Congressman, asking about the exploitation of illegal immigrant workers.  His question prompted a number of angry responses from the audience, and even moved local resident Rick Cooper to stand up and shout back at Hawkins.
