Cyclists Raise Money For Charity

Cyclists participating in Journey of Hope, presented by KRG Capital, will arrive in Santa Clarita on Sunday, June 20. Subway, located at 26888 The Old Road near Magic Mountain Parkway in Newhall, will serve as a rest stop in their 4,000 mile cross country cycling event to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

COC's Corey Honeycutt Earns WSC Track Athlete Of The Year Award

khts_sportsThe honors keep coming for College of the Canyons athletes. COC’s Corey Honeycutt earned the Western State Conference Track Athlete of the Year award. She won the conference, Southern California and state titles in the 800 during the 2010 track and field season.

Honeycutt, a Golden Valley High graduate, is the first female athlete to win an individual state track and field title in COC school history.

Man Steals SCV Senior Center’s Food Truck

khts_crime_genericThe Santa Clarita Sheriff station is looking for a 2008 white Ford Ranger that was stolen from the SCV Senior Center Sunday.

At 6:20 a.m. Sunday morning, a woman noticed a man attempting to drive one of the center’s Home Delivered Meals trucks through a locked chain link fence.

The man drove the truck through the fence rendering the truck inoperable. He then got in another truck and drove off.

Brush Fires On Freeways Keep Firefighters Busy

Firefighters have knockdown on a brush fire that burned on the northbound 14 freeway just north of Via Princessa. The burn area was confined to 2 1/2 acres and crews are in the mop-up process now.
